On May 15, 2016 I retired after 25 years of teaching psychology at the Arizona State University, and 50 years of teaching since his graduation from University of Warsaw (Poland). I am still a Senior Sustainability Scientist at the ASU Global Institute of Sustainability, and the Member of the Board of Directors of the Global Network for Sustainable Development (GNSD)
In the years 1993 - 2003 I served as the Director of the community based counseling center in Mesa, AZ, where I was providing counseling for families and individuals, organized parent education workshops, co-facilitated numerous retreats and training conferences for youth leaders. In 2003 I was certified as a life coach, and opened a private practice Dr. Marek Coaching.
Both during my entire teaching career, and while facilitating the development of GNSD, I have been mentoring and coaching a lot of young people, preparing them for professional career, and for the role of effective community leaders. I was recognized by the Society for Community Acton and Research as an Outstanding Educator of the year 2008.
Through his entire career I have been very active on the international arena. I was teaching as a visiting professor in the Netherlands, Germany and Sweden. As a guest lecturer and motivational speaker I have been presenting throughout Europe, Asia, North/South America and Australia to diversified audiences: teens, teachers, medical doctors, managers, parents, senior citizens, religious communities, and others. I presented papers to numerous international conferences.
I am married, and I have 3 daughters.
