Prior to becoming a consultant and adult educator, I spent 25 years in the telecommunications and IT industries where I held a series of management and executive positions across a range of environments and functional disciplines. This corporate experience included involvement in two successful IPO’s as a Vice President, as well as President and CEO positions at both an established company and a start-up. Having previously run two companies is particularly helpful when relating to business owner/CEO clients, since I have likely dealt with many of the challenges they are facing and can offer solutions based on my own experience.
In parallel with my consulting work, I spent over 10 years teaching at the graduate business school level and to corporate adult learners. I taught for seven years in the MBA program at the Johns Hopkins University Graduate School of Business, and also facilitated hundreds of leadership and strategy seminars for the American Management Association (AMA). The MBA courses I taught included Marketing Strategy, Marketing of Services, Strategic Planning, and Financial Analysis. The most frequently led AMA seminar topics were Strategy Execution, Strategic Agility, Strategic Planning, Leadership Development, Advanced Executive Leadership, and Transformational Leadership. Similar to what was noted above for my consulting and management background, this real world-oriented educational experience is also useful when working with business owners to sell their companies successfully.
